28. SUPPORT

This is a situation that simply cannot last.
It must be changed.  It must quickly pass.

The ridgepole sags.  Cracks begin to show.
It furthers someone to have a place to go.

The weight upon the great is too excessive.
That which is under cannot be supportive.

This is an exceptional time and situation.
It is necessary to find a way of transition.

Here, extraordinary measures are demanded.
"Action as quick as possible," is commanded.

Although the load of the strong is in excess
it is centered and resolution bodes success.

Forcible measures will not achieve anything.
The problem is solved by gentle penetration.

These are times demanding real superiority.
Here preponderation must be given priority.

As the swollen lake rises above the tree
the superior one stands alone and free.

The superior stands alone above the flood
Renouncing the world, embracing solitude.

28.PREPONDERANCE: THE LINES...

SIX AT THE BOTTOM:
During efforts, in times extraordinaire,
one must be cautious... Taking care.
Like putting a planter on the floor.
You carefully put something under
to prevent wetness, soil, or rupture.
Great success can never takeover
unless great caution is the order
at the start of any great endeavor.

9 IN 2ND PLACE:
An old tree is sprouting at the root.
An older man takes a young girl to suit.
Despite the unusualness of the feat...
All goes well... Renewed! Complete!

9 IN 3RD PLACE:
One insists on pushing ahead for sport.
Rejecting help... Others cease support.
The burden grows. Things break apart.
Disaster awaits one...  To do its part.

NINE IN FOURTH PLACE:
The ridgepole is braced...  Good fortune.
(If there's ulterior motives... Humiliation.)

NINE IN THE FIFTH PLACE:
A withered tree may flower once more.
Here self-renewal takes place no more.
Ambitious efforts will only create discord
Until danger passes of its own accord.

SIX AT THE TOP MEANS:
An unusual situation has come to a head.
One rashly wishes to complete a deed
without regard to where it will lead
making one wish that one was dead.
